    How to get to the Hotel Plattenhof

    From the Airport Zurich-Kloten:

    By taxi: approx. 20 minutes, approx. CHF 55.- to 60.-

    By train: Trains are leaving every 10 minutes from the airport towards the city centre (Zürich HB/Main Station). From there take the tram (see below). Buy your combined train & tram ticket at the blue ticket machine before boarding the train (CHF 6.20 one way).

    By tram: Tram no. 10 leaves outside the Airport Shopping Mall (upper level) and brings you in 30 minutes to “ETH/Universitätsspital” from where you can reach the Plattenhof within 10 minutes by walking. Buy your tram ticket at the blue ticket machine before boarding the tram (CHF 6.20 one way).

    From the Main Train Station/Zürich HB:

    By tram: Leave the station building towards Bahnhofstrasse. At the tram stop “Bahnhofstrasse/HB” take the tram no. 6 towards “Zoo”. Exit the tram at “Platte”, walk 20 m back and enter Plattenstrasse to your left hand side. You will find the Designhotel Plattenhof after 100 metres to your right hand side.

    By Car:

    Coming from the Airport Zurich-Kloten: Follow the motorway (A51) towards Zürich-City. Take the exit at Zurich-Milchbuck from where you follow the sign Zürich City. You will be following Winterthurerstrasse, then Universitätsstrasse and finally Rämistrasse. Once you pass the University of Zurich you will find Gloriastrasse to your left. Enter Gloriastrasse, after approx. 200 metres you reach Plattenstrasse to your right. Enter Plattenstrasse and you will find the Designhotel Plattenhof after 100 metres to your right hand side.

    Coming from Bern/Basel: At the end of the motorway (A3) follow the sign “Zürich City”. Once you have passed the Main Station follow the sign “Universität”. Across from the University building you find Gloriastrasse. Enter Gloriastrasse, after approx. 200 metres you reach Plattenstrasse to your right. Enter Plattenstrasse and you will find the Designhotel Plattenhof after 100 metres to your right hand side.

    Coming from Chur/Luzern: At the end of the motorway (A3) follow the sign “Rapperswil/See”. This will bring you to across the river to the Bellevue square. From here follow the sign “Universitätsspital”. You will be following Rämistrasse and after approx 800 metres to the crossing of Rämistrasse and Zürichbergstrasse, whre you find a sign “Plattenhof”. Enter Zürichbergstrasse to your left, after approx. 200 metres you reach the crossing of Zürichbergstrasse and Plattenstrasse, where you will see the Hotel Plattenhof at your left hand side.

      The largest university of Switzerland.
    • ETH Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Zentrum (5 minute’s walk)
      Science and technology university with an excellent national and international reputation through major achievements in research as well as through first rate teaching and services.
    • University Hospital of Zurich (5 minute’s walk)
      Leading hospital with 29 specialized clinics and institutes.
    • Calatrava-libary at the Jurisprudential Institute (2 minute’s walk)
      Design by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and built in 2004.
    • City Theatre of Zurich (10 minute’s walk, 1 tram stop)
      Most significant theatre of Switzerland, German “Theatre of the year”-award in 2002 and 2003.
    • Art Museum Zurich (10 minute’s walk, 1 tram stop)
      One of the largest art collection in Switzerland: outstanding collection with art pieces of Alberto Giacometti; major paintings of the Dutch and Italian baroque and highlights of the Swiss painters in the 19th and 20th century (Füssli, Hodler); largest Munch collection outside Norway, important paintings of Picasso, Expressionism, Monet and Chagall.
    • Opera (15 minute’s walk, 2 tram stops)
      The Opera of Zurich belongs to the leading opera stages of the world, hosting approx. 15 new productions in opera and ballet yearly, 25 reopenings and manifold cycle of recitals and concerts.
    • Historical old town (10 minute’s walk)
      Along the river Limmat you find teh historical city centre with its narrow alleyways, quiet squares, old churches and cute houses, some dated back to the 12th and 13th century. Nowadays, the old town is a popular area for shopping, entertainment, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, bars and clubs.
    • Lake of Zurich and river Limmat (15 minute’s walk, 2 tram stops)
      Enjoy a romantic walk along the lake shores with a breathtaking view of the lake and the alps. The parks on the lake shore are a hive of activity during the summer months. A popular meeting place for inline skaters, bathers, jewelry vendors and street artists to enjoy the mediterranean climate.     • Shopping at Bahnhofstrasse (20 minute’s walk, 3 tram stops)
      The main shopping area is concentrated in the city centre, which makes it easy for an afternoon shopping tour. The famous Bahnhofstrasse- one of the most beautiful shopping areas – is a must. Elegant fashion stores, department stores, boutiques with top quality products (shoes, furs, accessories, porcelain, jewellery, watches and souvenirs), banks and pastry shops.
    • Zoo (6 tram stops)
      At the Zurich Zoo you can see around 2’000 animals and over 260 species including many zoological rarities. The many heated vivariums and the new “Masoala Rainforest”- hall guarantee an unforgettable visit even when the weather is bad.
